Under Dawn Buckingham’s leadership, the Texas General Land Office has provided more than $1.5 billion in loans to help thousands of Texas Veterans purchase the homes of their choice. The GLO also provides specialized medical care to thousands of veterans in 10 state veterans homes and an honorable place of rest in our 5 veterans cemeteries. For nearly two centuries, the GLO has served those who serve our nation and Dawn is ensuring that commitment has never been stronger.

Through the Veterans Land Board, Dawn has expanded access to land and home loans so more Texas veterans can own a piece of the state they defended. She has also fought to ensure every eligible veteran knows about and can access the benefits they have earned.

Dawn has invested in the state veterans homes and cemeteries entrusted to the GLO, supporting the facilities and staff who care for Texas veterans with the dignity their service deserves.

With Dawn leading the way, the GLO has worked with the Texas Veterans Commission’s Women Veterans Program to make sure women who served have full access to the home loans, employment assistance, education benefits, and healthcare they earned. Women veterans are not an afterthought. They are a priority.
